Preview types and scoring
Writing, conversation, observation, and experimentation are independent indicators. A high value means greater agreement with items about that approach, not greater reflection ability or superiority. The total does not need to be 100.
Each approach has 3 questions, all weighted 1. Questions 9, 10, 11, and 12 are reverse-scored for their respective approaches by subtracting the response from 6. For each approach, subtract 1 from each adjusted response, add them, divide by 12, and multiply by 100.
- The writer who organizes thoughts: You often sort out thoughts through writing or notes. A short note before a conversation may help you understand your feelings.
- The conversationalist who broadens thoughts: You often organize thoughts by talking them through. Let the other person know whether you want advice or just someone to listen.
- The observer who takes a little distance: You often pause before reaching a conclusion. Setting a time to revisit things can keep reflection from turning into delay.
- The experimenter who tries small steps: You often learn what you think by trying small actions. Start with an experiment that is easy to undo.
